Visit of Dy. Governor, State Bank of Pakistan

The Deputy Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Mr. Saeed Ahmad along with his team visited NIFT Head Office on 15th Nov’2016.

Mr. Haider Wahab, Chief Executive Officer, NIFT welcomed the Dy. Governor SBP and the delegation accompanying the DG.

NIFT made presentations on its Automated Clearing Systems, its readiness for transition to electronic presentment and payment leading to cheque truncation, Establishment of Payment Gateway under SBP PSO/PSP and its role in managing PKI security and Certificate Authority.

The Dy. Governor expressed his keenness on moving forward with modernization of payment systems and was keen in details of plans for electronic processing in the area of electronic clearing and expansion in scope of payment gateway.

Subsequently the Dy. Governor with his team went around the NIFT Operations Centre to review the ACH processing facilities.

Punjab Board Of Revenue

Government of Punjab has launched a project titled “Land Records Management & Information Systems (LRMIS)” with the objective of improving and modernizing the system of maintenance of Land Revenue Records in the province.

NIFT has been awarded two LOTs i.e. LOT1 (Districts Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat & Mandi Bahauddin) and LOT2 (Districts Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum & Attock) for scanning and data entry of existing, paper based records to make LRMIS operational and starting service delivery through this system.

Making land rights secure, reducing the potential for disputes and enabling an improved investment climate are urgent tasks for the Punjab Board of Revenue and have been prioritized at the highest levels of the Government of Punjab for the entire province. Over the long-term, the Government intends to move to an effective system of land records management which will link text and special data effectively and will make rights in land more secure. This will entail significant institutional, legal and policy
changes, as well as investment in human resource development, information systems, and improvement in the available data bases on land. It also aims at improving public accessibility to the land records by simplifying procedures, introducing appropriate legal changes and deploying an efficient system to ensure security of data and delivery of a range of land record services to the end users.

The project plans include setting up 96 Tehsil Service Centers, 22 Sub-Tehsil Service Centers and 36 District Service Centers in the Province. The Patwaris will have to have regular interaction with the Service Center for exchange of information. Similarly, the Revenue Officers will also have a regular interface with the system. The Revenue Officers (Tehsildars and Naib-Tehsildars) will be responsible for electronically validating data regarding decided Mutations, Taghayurs (changes in cultivation recorded at the time of six monthly crop inspections) and Fard Badars when the system becomes operational.

All forms and registers involved are currently maintained manually by Revenue Officials in concerned Revenue Districts and Tehsils. NIFT is responsible for scanning and data entry of land record’s data. NIFT, as service provider, liaised with district land revenue administration and got source documents for scanning. Scanning is performed at District and Tehsil levels at land revenue offices. These scanned images are used as source information for data entry in Land Records Management Information System application (provided by PBOR) at NIFT Rawalpindi and Karachi data entry facilities. The data entry process would synchronize the manual data with the automated system of land records. This bears pivotal importance because the land transactions carried out after automation will be linked to the old manual records.

NIFT has completed the scanning and indexing of 6 districts so far and Scanning & Indexing of last districts of each LOT are in process. Similarly data entry of 2 districts is completed and is in process for next two districts of each LOT. The project completion date is first quarter of 2013.

EOBI Digitization and Archival Project

Employees Old Age Benefit Institution (EOBI) intended to acquire a digitization and ongoing archival service for its important documents related to core business like pensioner’s files and support business like HR, Finance and General Administration files.

NIFT has been awarded the work order and recently agreement has been signed with EOBI.

The project includes scanning and indexing of 4.5 million pages of employees and employer files of EOBI that are distributed in 37 regions and 32 field offices. NIFT will also provide customized front-end of openKM (Document Management System) to EOBI.

NIFT will carry out the scanning part of the project at 16 NIFT centers in different cities of Pakistan that are closest to the respective EOBI regional offices. The project has started from 1st of July 2012.

The “EOBI Digitization & Archiving” project consist of configuration of OpenKM at EOBI head office, scanning of its pensioners and employers files, index and creating of metadata, upload of same (metadata and scanned PDF files) on EOBI OpenKM server through interoffice made application. We had also developed web application for file tracking throughout the project as per request of EOBI. Please find below regional office wise summary for mentioned project:

NIFT has partnered with FMAP

NIFT and Financial Market Association of Pakistan (FMAP) have signed an agreement authorizing NIFT to produce KIBOR (Karachi Inter Bank Offered Rate), KONIA (Karachi Overnight Index Swap Rate), PKRV (Pakistan Revaluation Rate), and SUKUK by aggregating the financial market live data.

Mr. Shah Azim Azmi, President of FMAP said that NIFT’s aggregation facility will provide a neutral facility for simultaneous dissemination of important numbers to all content providers in a transparent manner. NIFT is a trusted partner of the banking industry who has been providing clearing services to all banks and their 6500 branches in similar environments for the last 15 years. NIFT’s neutrality and trust provides level playing field to all content providers.
